West Hollywood’s fur ban described as unfair.

A federal court in California ruled that selling apparel made of fur in the area was to be made illegal in 2011. However, recently Mayfair House, an accessories boutique, has challenged the order. Claiming it be ‘unfair’.

According to Elizabeth Solomon, a spokesperson for Mayfair House, the ruling is unfair because furniture stores in the area are still allowed to sell fur rugs and items of…

L’Wren Scott: Proof of Fashion’s pressure?

L’Wren Scott: Proof of Fashion’s pressure?

The suicide of L’Wren Scott shook the fashion world. A woman admired for her centredness in a bustling industry fell foul to the pressures of fashion.  The 49 year-old hanged herself in her Manhatten apartment on 17th March. The fashion industry is usually dismissed as unimportant, but raking in over $20 billion in revenue each year, and growing, tells a different story. Fashion designers, models…

Will women be asked to give birth at home?

Will women be asked to give birth at home?

The NHS is stretched so thin, dangerously thin. It appears that this danger is becoming apparent in new measures to save money and hospital time – advising Mothers to give birth at home.

This new drastic measure has been met with much criticism. Rightly so. A woman’s risk of dying in the UK from child birth is one in 12,500. A dramatically low number to what it was just 150 years ago, at one in…

Is the Fashion Industry still racist?

The fashion industry has evolved through the decades into a place for artists to shroud their creativity over beautiful people. Once thought to be a place of expressive freedom, the industry is constantly under attack over issues such as weight, race and sexuality. Even in 2014, racism is still rife within the industry and this year London Fashion Week is allegedly affirming the issue through…

Work Experience at Cambridge News

Work Experience at Cambridge News

I understand working for a local newspaper isn’t exactly linked to my specialism (fashion), however it was an enlightening and inspiring couple of days.

I would start work at 11am, this isn’t exactly the truth in journalism. You usually never stop as a journalist, even if you aren’t writing or at the office. You’re constantly thinking about what to write next. I was pretty disappointed in myself…

#nomakeupselfie or #you’rejustdonatingtoanindustry?

#nomakeupselfie or #you’rejustdonatingtoanindustry?

Sorry if that tag was hard to understand.

Basically, as many of you probably know. No makeup selfie has made more than £2 million through donations to Cancer Research UK. Why and how? No ones sure, but it’s definitely doing something – which can only be good, right?

Personally I think it is, but the worst attack I’ve seen is a girl with sellotape all over her face, questioning the donations…

Aaaaah it’s a wonderful day!

Aaaaah it’s a wonderful day!

I’m sitting here drinking a ridiculous amount of coffee, with my windows wide open so I can listen to the wind. So nice, but at the same time it’s not actually that warm and it’s making me hate the people walking past my window.

Well, one girl was wearing a summer dress a flourescent flip flops. Really? It’s 15 degrees, not 50. British people are hilarious when it comes to warm weather, we…
